Coast and Cottages – Art Exhibition by Nara Coates
February 4 - February 28
Having received a Distinction in B.A. Fine Art studies in the UK, Nara’s ambition has always been to become a full time artist. Fortunately this became possible when she retired from teaching and she has been able to exhibit far and wide to give exposure to her unique style in painting. Previously she has been able to exhibit in places as far apart as the Mediterranean island of Malta, where she lived and worked for some years, and the USA and Canada.
Since moving to County Clare she has been very inspired with the gems that she found in this wonderful environment of the west coast of Ireland. Prior to this exhibition Nara has exhibited in Ennis Museum and Scariff Gallery. She is looking forward to finding further opportunities in Fine Art galleries to show her work.
Her exhibitions shows Nara’s love of the land with paintings ranging from the timeless solidity of the Burren’s landscape to the natural beauty of the rock formations. In her current exhibition she has endeavoured to pay a tribute to the builders and their creative imaginations in lovingly restoring the old forgotten and dilapidated cottages by transforming them into most enchanting and capturing images. The designs show an extra sensitivity and passion in creating a reality that is unique in this precious landscape. The roaring west coast sea rages on, battering the west coast. The human spirit finds painterly solutions that are pleasing to the eye, with colours that blend and harmonise and spaces that hold their presence through an ever-changing reality.
